A word from our Physiotherapist…

blog-image

Haven’t the better days and brighter weather come around quickly this year? It’s a great time to be out and about. Many of us are thinking about ways to shed those unwanted kilos that have crept on over Winter.

Physiotherapists encourage people to stay fit and healthy. We must all remember however, as we jump on those treadmills, start pounding the pavement and increase those pool laps, to do it safely. Increased motivation can lead to over-exercising too quickly. Injuries can result from doing too much too soon. Begin slowly and not overdo it. During fatigue, we are at the greatest risk of sustaining an injury. Some examples of injuries from overuse are:

  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Shin splints
  • Anterior knee pain
  • Rotator cuff shoulder pain
  • Lower back/hip pain

Whatever your reason for getting fit in the lead-up to Summer, our Physiotherapist can advise you on what is the best and safest way to shed those kilos, while staying healthy and happy.

If you have already developed some form of injury in your attempts to start exercising, don’t ignore the problem. It is most likely to come back when you try to start again.

If you have any questions regarding your fitness plan or injury management, don’t hesitate to book in to see our Physiotherapist, Andrew Noyes, at Solutions!
